Waiting for that '86 Red Convertible to enjoy this summer?
Hi,
I am posting to the forum on behalf of my father -- He is ready to part with his beloved 1986 A.S.C. McLaren Red Convertible (Mercury Capri).
5.0 L High Output V8. Two door Coupe. Tan interior.
Car #123. 1 of 80 RED convertibles, 1 of 197 convertibles in 1986
He's the 3rd owner. 22,531 miles as of today.
I'm told it has two small holes in the top, that I'm also told are fixable.
Excellently taken care of. Only driven in summer months. It's in Midwest area right now.
Happy to reply to to any other questions--(he hasn't settled on an asking price yet, but we'll post it soon). We don't have any other ad up yet. Do you know anyone who'd love this car if it's not for you?
Check out the photos in the album, more on the way. Thanks for viewing this post and let us know if you're interested (or anyone else you know)!

NEW PHOTOS of the 1986 Red Convertible for sale!
good to know, thanks
Headed south today I saw an ASCMcLaren at Exotic Motorcars in Tarpon Springs, Fl.
1984 Red Convertible. Claims 30,000 miles. Didn't have time to really look it over but the dealers website listed it as Fuel Injected 5.0, automatic. No extras that I see. Recaro seats torn, listed as 'air conditionedseats.' Dash appears to be worn badly. Paint job not impressive at all. Looks like the tonneau cover doesn't draw down. Shows a 2 cylinder ?????? And he 'only' wants $13,900.00.

Thanks so much for letting me know.
If you look at the album of photos (on the first post) you'll see my dad's car is in excellent shape, lovingly cared for by a car guy like a proud papa.
The ~22,000 miles are ORIGINAL miles and all original or real Mercury parts.
Of course normal kind of wear but the interior is extremely nice! It was stored in a garage and not driven in winter. And that V8 runs great.
We have now listed it for $11,995 (to accommodate getting to it or having it transported) and from what you've shared, this is an AWESOME deal on a car that would be fantastic addition to a Classic Car, Mercury, McLaren or other car enthusiasts collection!

Please let me know if you'd like my phone number to ask any details about the car.
It's listed at $10,995 OBO
Thanks!

GORGEOUS 1986 Mercury Capri ASC McLaren Red Convertible
Hi Folks!
My last post here. My dad's car is now for sale at the Gateway Classic Cars showroom in Tinley Park, IL 60487.
Check out their listing with 50 PHOTOS at
http://gatewayclassiccars.com/chicago/1 ... -S576.html
Please share the listing around as much as you can!
It was a blast driving it down from Michigan's UP to Chicago, and got all kinds of attention at the gas stations and on the road.
I sure hope a true McLaren enthusiast buys this beauty (see it with the top down in all it's glory!)
And if anyone is interested in how it goes with Gateway, let me know. It is a consignment showroom, really cool.
Thanks, Monica
