Wiper Problems

Post by randyveach »

I removed the wiper blades, and the arms that hold the wiper blades on, so that I could remove and re-paint the lovers (flat black). I thought putting them back on would be a cinch (poor assumption). With the arms slotted in correctly, the wiper blades are about an inch and a half above the glass (both sides). What am I missing?
Thanks for reading this.

Don't reply, I figured it out. There is a clip that locks the arm onto the wiper gear. That clip must be oiled and be free moving. This arm will work correctly when this is done.

 "lovers" being painted flat black.

Glad you brought your wipers back down to the glass. Sometimes its the little things that are the hardest to figure out.

The louvers are to be painted satin grey and not black on an 86 I think. Or did asc paint them on the verts?

I don't think that anything on the car is to be "flat" texture.

Good information, but I wasn't sure I would like the louvers painted black, so I painted them with the new rubberized paint. This way if I didn't like it, a trip to the car wash could fix that. Thanks for the info, and I do like the black.

The vert. cowl panel came from Ford Semigloss black and maybe Gray (did not look it up) but ASC painted them body color from everything I have seen.

You're correct. They are semigloss/satin black and not grey from Ford. Didn't remember whether asc painted them or not.
