Inexplicably, it's listed as an '85 and no black/silver '85s were built, as far as is public.

Given the very rare T-Tops and the claim on an black/silver '85, caveat emptor. Do your homework and verify. That's a lot of money for what could be a Capri with a body kit and no documentation.

if the story about it being an asc rep's car is true, then this was probably assembled by asc McLaren off a RS, rather then a D32 built car.

Probably they took an employees RS & converted it for company use.
already had the parts laying around, why not just build it for a portion of the cost?

Makes no sense in some ways. Why would anyone buy a full vehicle, even under the A plan and convert it? I'm pretty sure that ASC got a huge discount buying in volume and skipping many assembly procedures.

My '85 A-Plan price was $13,300 (my '86 was $13,800--BUT had a factory sunroof).

A similar RS would not have been a lot cheaper and adding the ASC kit would have made it MORE costly than a genuine D32.

BUT if you already had the car and retrofitted it....

Again, these parts weren't super controlled and any yutz could buy them. This makes the documentation that much more important.

Not saying it couldn't be genuine, but it's gotta have proof especially with so many rare factors going on.
