87-90 pull down motor system on an 86

I started a topic about the Mercedes top, but I think my real question is going to get lost.

has anyone switched to the 87-90 style screw system for the tonneau pull down? I recall from my 88 that you shut the tonneau like a trunk and it used a trunk like latch. Then, you would hold the button down to have the pull down motor 'screw' the top down.

I think that method works a lot better than the 86 hook style
