ascMcLaren Coupe Shift Boots

Post by negusm »

I can't remember if this question ever came up.

Did the asc Coupes get the Leather or the Ford rubber faux leather style for the manual cars?

I have the faux leather rubber one on my car now.

The problem with this question is the fact that the rubber boots are a REALLY good illusion. For years I thought I had a leather shift boot....until I pulled it off my car.

Shift Boot

The coupes I have run across, all have had the fake leather.

HMM just did a double check. The boot is RUBBER! My vert is leather. Maybe I am getting confused these days.

Now the shifter knob was leather (I know this because the leather came off in my hand one day. This was an ASC standard right?

Starting to question some things on my car. 85 ASC coupe Blue/Orange factory moonroof. The thing I am wondering about is the anthracite wheels with the polished aluminum face. I haven't seen these on anything. Bought the car back in 89 with 40K miles and thought it mostly stock.

I need to get the wheels restored. (the powder coating is peeling off) If they definately should be orange now would be the time to know.

Regards,

John

Hahah. Yet one more person fooled into thinking the rubber boot is actually leather!

YEs, the asc shift knob appears to be a stock shift knob wrapped in leather.
