Rare-asc; your coupe IS there! Look again.
1985 Motorsport Capri; regarding differences, I'll narrow it down for you a little bit. ANY coupe that is either Gray or Black in exterior color is a 1986. (There were also 3 made in Silver). Any with Automatic Transmission are 1986 (9 made). Any EuroCoupe is a 1986. (47 Made)
Any GP-4 is a 1985 (30 made). Any with a T-Top or Sun Roof is a 1986.
That's the best I can do. The tough ones are the White and/or the Dark Blue, WITHOUT a Sun Roof or T-Top, that ARE a 5-Speed. I can't tell on them, either.... Now, if you get to peek inside, such as it's PARKED, if you see a plaque on the dash, in front of where the passenger sits and it says:
LIMITED EDITION followed by a number, then it's a 1986.
If the seat piping is red, it's a 1986 EuroCoupe.
I have never found nor seen a 1984, but I do know for 100% positive fact that 25 were made. They were all Dk Blue, 5-Speeds, some had the hood scoops. They all had the Kenwood 2 post Stereo & Kenwood speakers. They had no dash plaques.
Due to poor distribution at the time, I don't believe they had gone too National, yet & therefore I'd guess the bulk of them stayed in Michigan and states that boardered Michigan.

Regarding the transmission in that Nebraska car, I probably didn't ask ~ whatever, I don't have it....

I am working on finding where I got that 707858 VIN. I can't seem to locate it, stay tuned.... I have to go thru 58 8x11 typed pages of McLarens 6 to a page, that include all years & styles.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

1990 Final Car prior to the 12 Silver Anny Editions
1990 Silver Pearl Anny Edition
1986 Coupe Full Pkg #109 of 114.

Sandy / Mike,
that list is missing 7 differnet GP4 cars.
plus 615304 is NOT a GP4 car as we found as i squeezed sandy for more info on it.
615304 was a white ASC coupe w/orange trim/wheels.

mike if your updating the 85 coupe list, check the motorsport capri car showroom page for the vins.

VIN #607858

Post by Larry d »

Sandy & Mike
On the above VIN# 607858, I was wondering if this number is off a 1983 Capri. Reason being the # on my 1983 CC is 608585 which puts that car being built sometime before my car. Just throwing another VIN # at you. Larry d
