Side, rear ground effects and spoiler
Hey everyone, new here. I am trying to find the side skirts and rear valance and spolier for my 1986 Capri. I already have the front end. I found that ascmclaren.com has them, but I was wondering if there are any other spots to get them from.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Not that I've ever seen, most of what he has is actuall asc stuff saved from the dumpster, I don't think anyone is reproducing this stuff.

Welcome to the group psmvchaser! Like Kyle indicated, there really is no other place to buy "asc McLaren" parts. Ocassionally, parts show up on Ebay and once and while members on this board will list stuff for sale.

You are located in an area where lots of parts are sitting in garages. It is amazing what Michigan'ers have socked away for a rainy day. But getting them to part with "stuff" is the problem. Keep checking in here and look for asc McLaren specifics on Ebay in addition to having a Capri search, you might get lucky. If you are in a hurry, then Hank at ascmclaren.com is your man.
Good luck!

I've got a Saleen rear and Saleen sides. I'm keeping my ASC stuff. I just bought the Saleen stuff when I heard that they were no longer going to produce them anymore. I was hoping to buy a Saleen in the future and have a new set as backups. The Saleen will not happen anymore, so I'm thinking of selling

i am not so sure that all of hanks stuff is all NOS.
i know for sure that the light covers are being re-produced.
somebody needs to start re-poing the light covers in the correct tint & without the holes drilled out.
i have heard storys of people buying the rear covers for resto's, only to have to get another taillight/bumber cover due to the holes not lining up.
the front covers are so dark you cannot see the headlight beams when driving at night.
and for the price he is charging, its hard to justify buying incorrect re-po's.
i have been holding out hoping there will be a correct nos set that shows up somewhere or someone start making them with the correct specs.
anyone get one of those deck spoilers from the guy at the other board?
heard the price is right, but long wait time. i think i seen someone on the other board saying he paid over a year ago & he still has not received it.

I got Rob's first one and did my write up on it and it was a very nive quality piece. IMHO, in a lot of ways much better than the original.1985 Motorsport Capri wrote:i am not so sure that all of hanks stuff is all NOS.

Did you talk to Hank and ask him about the headlight covers? Hank seems pretty reasonable and you should ask him if he has originals or if he has any plans to make any in a lighter tint.
When I bought nearly the complete asc "kit" to fix my asc, back in 1995/96, MUCH of the parts were reproduced even then. The air dam, extensions and side skirts were all of newer more flexible material (repro). The rear valence was still the old material so I think it was NOS. I think the quarter window frames were reproductions. The headlight and tailight covers were NOS as well as the lexxan quarter window black outs. I think the replacement sail panel trim piece I got was reproduction. The steering wheel and horn pad were originals (I think now he has them recovered and requires a core). I think the shifter knob was original.
Add 10 years and I am sure Hank has run out of the originals of most things and is making many more reproductions. My guess is that he probably has more NOS 87-90 vert stock than the earlier Capris stuff.
Anyways, repro or NOS, I'm very glad he has the stuff available.

I hope he is stating this as reproduction or oem especially if you are paying $500 for two tail light covers! Also with reproduction he has to watch his ass as Ford is lawsuit crazy on aftermarket parts. All it takes is one ticked off customer. I already spoke to two manufacturers in the last week that this effected.1985 Motorsport Capri wrote:i am not so sure that all of hanks stuff is all NOS.

Why? He does not reproduce Ford parts.ASCMCLRN wrote: Also with reproduction he has to watch his ass as Ford is lawsuit crazy on aftermarket parts. All it takes is one ticked off customer. I already spoke to two manufacturers in the last week that this effected.

Mike, I started out by saying I hppe he is stating this as reproduction or original equipment manufacterer. That was based upon your own remarks and 1985 Motorsport Capri questioning if he is selling nos or repro. The law says you have to distinguish if something is oem or reproduction. Copyright laws are being enforced tenfold these days. I am a lil confused by you saying he doesnt reproduce Ford parts when you said before:negusm wrote:Why? All I was saying is that since he does not reproduce Ford parts, Ford shouldn't have any beef with him. They are asc parts that fit Ford cars but are not reproductions of anything Ford has ever made.ASCMCLRN wrote:Mike, I started out by saying I hppe he is stating this as reproduction or original equipment manufacterer. Now I do agree that he should say when parts are reproduction or not. In my case anyways back in 95 I was just happy to find anyone with parts, reproduction or otherwise. It's not like it would hurt his business either since there really is no other place to get parts and when the NOS stuff is gone, it's gone and all we have are repros to use.

Just a regular Capri. Color is gray. I've always loved the McLarens, but when I bought my car, I couldn't afford one. Now I'm building it into a drag car. I'm still in the market for a McLaren if I find one that I like.plumkrazy wrote:WELCOME!

What color combo is your car? and is it a Hardtop?

Why even bother with these expensive hard to find parts ?
...Oh I got these on e-bay last week

What company in the 80's made these parts for ASC anyways ?
or did ASC fabricate thier own ?
