Barrett Jackson 2008

Post by ckj »

I've been dead sick with the flu for the last 5 days, but today was my only chance to go and walk around barrett jackson, so I had to suck it up.

Overall, a ton of amazing cars. I can't even tell you how many hemi cuda's or shelby's I saw. I do remember a few beautiful gt 500's including a kr that will fetch some cash..

I saw the 84 asc convertable and it is labeled as #49 of 50. All original and in pretty good shape.

There was a real neat front entrance only BMW:

Oh, dear Lord, those MOPARS ! I recall each, know the EXACT model name & have the brochures. THOSE were cars. Not this "Green" era of little krap-kickers. Vivid color & chrome, convertibles, fins, YES !

Nice McLaren. I have #49 on my list. Good to see it looking so good.

Those shows are overpowering to me. My blood pressure goes to high. You left out any Imperials ?? Imperials are my # 1. 1957 to 1978 !

After that, no! A downsized Imperial is like sour chocolate.

My family had a total of 22 Imperials ! Every body style & model.
My dad was a 1/3 silient partner in a ICP store and we got a new Imp every year from 1957 thru 1978, plus I personally purchased 3 of them,
a 1968, a 1972 and a 1975. My favorite was the 1968 Convertible.

FEEL BETTER! Rest ! http://classiccars.com/Uploads/Preview/25227.jpg Sandy's '68 Imperial Crown Convertible. ((I was age 22 & this car left me with a ZERO balance in the bank. It was a whopping 7,500 dollars.)) :)
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

CKJ, how long did it take you to wander around B-J? From the looks of the place, it would take many hours. Thanks for the report and the photos.

It's huge! We basically didn't spend anytime in the large exhibitors tent where anyone is selling stuff, like old gas pumps etc. We walked rather quickly through all the outside car tents in about 1.5 hours. We only stopped to take a close look at maybe 6 cars in this area.

We spent 1 hour in the big inside tent where the big $$$ cars are located. I'd say there were 120 cars in this tent.

Then we spent another 30 minutes in the manufacturers area seeing the new cars. Chevy had a cover over the new ZR1 vette so we couldn't see it. Ford had a "dyno drag racing" exhibit setup with two mustang gt's on a dyno. People from the crowd were picked to "drag race" 1/4 mile! It was loud and exciting.

Roughly 3 hours I'd say. I would really like to spend about 6 hours there and spend time looking at everything closely.

That is all so cool. You are very lucky to live so close to an event like this.

Was cleaning out my tool box and found a ad for this car. Not sure where it came from or when.

it says it has 41,000 miles and a 5-speed. They where asking $17,000 B.O. or trade .

I didn't see ANY imperials. I have to admit I could have missed it, but I didn't see any listed in the auction either.

Sandy-I'll be going back there all week. If I see any I snap some shots!

We got to see Craig Jackson, his daughter Shelby and the prez of Ford (whats his name) present an 85th birthday cake to Carroll Shelby. Carroll had his new GT500KR parked behind the Monkeemobile. A gift from Ford.

It would be funnier if Craig Jackson's daughter was named Carol.

McLaren at Barrett-Jackson

Post by 87ASCMcSteve »

When is the McLaren supposed to go through the auction? If it already went, what price did it get and what did they say about the car??
