Post by 03Mach1 »

Sandy sent you a pm on this. Does anyone recall the correct stock tires (brand/size) for the '88 verts? I am thinking good year?

BF GOODRICH - Comp T/A But I 4 4-get the size & I cannot go "look" as the cars are winter vacationing in a heated garage didicated to collector cars, they are 4 miles away. It's a fabulous place & wish I owned it :notworthy:

hmmmm I was thinking gatorbacks for some which would be the good year right? I am wondering if asc just used what ever brand tire was available at the time or laying around in the shop.

They were very specific about the tires:

Somewhere, in my stack of literature. I remember reading the B F Goodrich tire being mentioned. May actually have the lit that came with the car. Too cold in the garage to look! Florida is freezing!

Here it is mentioned for the '86 verts:

I would imagine that they mention the BF Goodrich tires in the later lit as well (which I don't have).

Mike, ever notice in that COUPE folder, that the McLaren Coupe in there, as pictured, is really a 1984 ? Check the seat material and its sew design and the orange decal on the dash, in front of passenger seat. She's an '84

Yes, I think that by 1988 they were using various brands. The B.F.G. (s) were on all 84 85 86 and most 87s, especially the early builds that were Ford Made August-December of 1986.

As I recall, the factory Gatorback tires were just swapped onto the ASC wheels for convertibles.

The coupes, I know, had shaved very sticky Comp T/As in 225/50/15.

As with all ASCs, there were likely some Special Orders accommodated.

Yes, this jogged my memory, Peter, and you are 200% correct. (84-86)

But, I recall tha the EuroCoupes and G.P IV made do with the regular fare from FoMoCo.
