Post by Sandy »

Do any of you give your car's names ? I have given ALL of ours names ~ even though our 26 Y.O. Son does NOT like it....his gets named too, which pisses him off big-time, so I am NOT allowed to use her name, within ear' shot of him. (touchy touchy)

My 2003 Lincoln Town Car Mid-Year "Limited Edition" = "Townie"

1990 Silver Anniversary McLaren = "Hi-Ho Scarlet"
Son's Lexus AWD 250 ~ "Lexiee" (OR DISS-LEXIEE, when owner is grumpy ......
My 1993 Cadillac Show Car (Flwtwd 60 Special = "Aubergine"
1986 ascMcLaren COUPE = "'Ye ole Grey McLaren"

I know, I know...the home I am going to, soon, has basket weaving on Mondays.......

I am like capriman86. My cars only have names when they break or otherwise cause me strife. At that point, they have a long list of unprintable names. In these situations, my wife says that the lengthy, unbroken stream of expletives makes it sound like I have auto-directed Tourettes.

That's funny, I have a name for Sandy's 1986 ascMclaren Coupe too!

I like to call it, "Mine, Mine, Mine, my precious!"

Hey Sandy,

Thinking of you. There's an Imperial for sale across from the VFW. Looks really superb condition. The guy that ahs it restores Thunderbirds and he had a 63 T-Bird Convertible there. It's gone. He may have taken the Imp in on a trade!

Cool thread. I've known plenty of people over the years who've named their vehicles, though women overall seem to be far more likely to do so. Some of the names really fit too!

While I view every vehicle I've ever owned as a 'child' while in my possession (and they're treated as such), I'll admit I've never bothered naming any of them since the adoption rate is far too high to bother or keep track. At this point I've had enough to start my own village. Of course if I were to ever decide to leave, the village would be minus its idiot... (wholeheartedly agreeing is unnecessary) :D

Anyhow, after I've broken them of some bad habits and slowly refined them back to near-perfection, I always grant some new lucky soul the enviable opportunity to cheerfully take over the responsibilities of care. Then it's repeat. Again, and again, and again. Never a dull moment. Keeps things very interesting that way! 8)

Sorry, ive had over 50 cars but never gave one a name. They are female though, because they can be so different. I had one car that would run like crap until I gave it a bath. Maybe more than one.

No more cars for me. I have 3 in storage, and 2 at home, plus the wife's Jeep & son's Lexus out in the driveway. Back in the day, when I had my Imperial Fetish, I only had 1 at a time and 1 "Show-Car".
I sold them, and got a new one every other year, along witht the show car. But....I was single then and had no obligations. My last Imperial was a 1982. Sold it to purchae the 1986 asc McLaren Coupe. Then moved to selling L-M, and bought a 1986 Mark to use.
And that is all together another story......But, no more Imps, for me.
