I sold my 85 Black 85 Roadster, locally in Des Moines Iowa a couple of weeks ago. I needed money to relocate to Arizona & had a buyer who wanted it.
It will continue to carry the BLK MAC license plates with the new owner.
She wants to get the seats re-upholstered, but no shops in the Des Moines area are interested in touching it. One shop has convinced her to get different seats instead???
I checked with TMI but couldn't find any upholstery for ASCs or for Recaros with speakers in the head rests, so don't know where else to look.
Are there any suggestions from you guys about what she can do to get the original seats restored, instead of swapping to some kind of non OEM Seats for it?

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a shop that would tackle it, it'll just take some phone calls to locate a shop. Here in Phoenix I asked around car shows and found Bell Auto Upholstery. They recreated my McLaren seat covers in either leather or vinyl. I sent 3 other McLarens their way and we're all very happy with the results.

If you go to any Recaro related place, they will try to sell you new seats. You have to find a local upholstery shop that is willing take it on making the covers from scratch. I found a local shop here in CA that did a decent job. It was not cheap here in CA at $1100. I have heard on $8-900. In md-USA. Has anyone tried Katskins?

Call Hank in Florida. He should have oem stuff.
As far as the shops she's been taking it, they're all the wrong ones. Any decent upholsterer will understand the need for originality and will at least quote a price even if they have to make them from scratch.
Of course if she's trying to get something cheap under $500, then yeah, I'd suggest new seats too if I was an upholstery shop.

Thanks for the tips guys,
I passed a copy of this thread onto her and explained how she can become a forum member.
I told her about how much help you have all been to me, and she says that she is interested in joining.
I no longer own an ASC at this time, but hope to again some day, so will continue to read new posts as I have in the past.
