New owner in Surprise Arizona

Post by AZCruisen »

Well I finally purchased my first Mclaren! It needs some work but I am looking forward to the challenge. I heard about this site from Hank and figured I would join up. I bought an '85 Convertible out of Modesto California. Not sure if they were part of this site, and to be honest, he was not very forthright about the car. Way more surprises than I was hoping for but it is now mine and I can't wait to get started!

I will get some photos up soon. The Vin is already on here due to the car being for sale at one time on Ebay, and I do think the black top is wrong. I don't think they ever made a white '85 with a black top and blue interior, at least according to the info I have been able to find on here. But it is ok. Rather have a brand new wrong top, then be in need of a blue top right now.

I believe I saw that one listed and maybe updated the site info. There were a couple in the area.

FEP posting

Post by svo413 »

Yes, that should be the car which was discussed on FEP about 12/2. The seller called it one of a kind due to the black top. He also wanted $3500 but it had some large aftermarket wheels on. I saw the photos from Craig's list. Hopefully the top is in good condition. It looked ok in the photos but there were a few things that were questionable. It could have been just the wording of the add. The seller never responded to questions.

Yes, that is the car. I did get the original wheels with it as well. But the owner turned out to be extremely deceiving about the details on the car. But I had drove 10 hours from Phoenix to get it and could deal with the shortcomings that he was not upfront about. It should be a great car for me though! Already have those 20's up for sale if anyone wants them!!

So glad the 20's are off the car. So when do we locals get to see it in person?

Hey there Hank! Welll they are not off yet but working on it. Thinking about coming up to the pavillions tomorrow. Will you be up there sometime?

Wheels

Post by svo413 »

The correct wheels can be found but may take some time to find. Ten holes will work and are easy to find. The tires are another problem. Unless you like Falken tires, the choices are pretty slim. I am hoping some new brand names will be released soon. I had my wheels redone and now can only fine so so tires. Looking for some BFGs ore than the TA.

It is Russo-Steele night at Pavilions. I may have to wait for Sammie-she has volleyball in Tucson until 2pm so we should be there about 4pm.

At least you got the correct wheels with the car and don't have to hunt for them.
