You are more correct, than incorrect. Allow me to fine tune....
YES, asc/McLaren was limited to interiors by what FoMoCo offerred as a base color scheme. Sand Beige was dropped by FoMoCo for 1990, therfore likewise for our McLarens. For '91 they wanted to keep ordering possibilities down, to cut down on complexity of outsourced asc/McLaren specific interior bits & pieces, thusly Oxford White or Ebony Black went pretty much with everything.
There were many HUGE dissagreements between Peter Muscat and asc, resulting in a lawsuit even!! It was a very messy situation. Pwter sold the design to FoMoCo, who then turned around and outsourced it to asc. asc cut corners, leaving out certain parts that added quality to the design, in the name of faster build & more profit. Peter was a fanatic for perfection, and didn't like what they did to it. (I do not really know the details). One car was made to fit your description. Made for the Late Hans Prechter, it was Cadillac's Pearl White Metallic, with unique Pastel Creme leather and a Black roof. It had a single large window in the rear, lacking the two small Mercedes type wrap-around windows. Rumored to have a power top, it didn't, however it did have an inside lining with padding between the outer & inner material. It had a Power Antenna and other unique features. I know of no other such specials. Crystal Blue was NOT dropped for 1991 on FORD'S Mustangs, just asc's.
Each of the 1991's was to be available with either a white or a black interior & a white or a black top, plus the Atlantic Blue top was to be retained, and used on a Keweenau White car, with Oxford White Leather. The new for 91 Bimini Blue also could have had the Atlantic Blue top with Oxford White Leather.
1991 Paints:
asc/McLaren Red/Jet Black/Keweenau White/Dino Yellow/Bimini Blue (new)/Cinnamon Brown (new)/Weinsberg Silver (new)/Coral Red/Sea Foam Aqua.
