In 1987 (1St year Mustang bodied asc/McLaren)
towards the end of the 1987 build, asc REPAINTED allready
completed cars. It is unknown how many were involved, but
the number is tiny!! Perhaps 10 or so. A couple of
black cars with the Sand Beige interior & tan roof were
repainted in Ford Truck Color "Alpine Green Met.". A couple
of Black cars with Lt. & Med. Titanium Grey interior
& black top were repainted in "Regal Red Met."
which came from the 1986 Merkur XR4Ti. It is unknown
why such was done. To date, no Regal Red has
surfaced, and one Alpine Green (in Florida) HAS surfaced,
but THAT car was totalled out, about 3 years ago, and
no longer exists. Neither color did anything for the
car, as they were both dull (not vibrant) colors. I
understand that those color cars were repainted 3 times, so
that they would not chip to reveal the black
underneath! One 1998 unit was ORIGINALLY made in the Regal
Red, none in the Alpine Green. THAT Regal Red one was
shipped & sold in Fla.
