I know that this is a rare car, but it is nowhere near mint condition, and it is not worth it to me to restore it to that point. My main reason for the conversion is that it is a two seater, and the convertible top is hidden. I currently have a 1993 Mustang convertible that I was planning to create a top cover, but to fabricate it in fiberglass was going to cost close to $3,000 and it wouldn't be nearly as perfect as the ASC! I picked up this McLaren for $5,500 and all of the hard work is taken care of. I plan to enclose a custom stereo setup in the back seat. I personally do not like the style of ground effects on the 88's they just look like an after thought. I filled in the oval part a GT front bumper and added a chrome horse off of a newer stang. And i filled in the GT part on the side ground effect so it only says MUSTANG. And I finished it off with a cobra rear bumper. I want to get the top made like the white McLaren with a single rear window. I am adding a Mach 1 hood w/ 1.5 inch lift and a small Cervini wing. Then I plan to finish off the exterior with 96' Cobra wheels 17" and shaved door handles. I am also getting prices for a custom fab hard top. The interior is going to be two tone blue and white. And the exterior is going to be painted and exotic Blue. To finish everything off a naturally aspirated motor will be built along with several other suspension upgrades. I am very tasteful in everything I do, and would never do anything to make a car look gawdy. I am all about custom and being original, so what better way to do that than taking a rare peice and turning it into my ideal vehicle. The only drawback is the McLaren tops are not powered. <br><br>If I had a car like yours that was a mint machine I would never even think of touching it. But, my car has 124,000 miles and needs work.
