The answer is that because in the beginning of the 1986 2-Seat Ragtop
production, the Recaros were standard equipment (as had been in 1985
& 1984) and included the custom door panels/pull straps & switch-
gear. Around about 30% of the way through 1986 production, they
moved the Recaros over to the option column ($1,765.00 extra) and at
that time they switched to using the standard Capri door panel, as
stock of the custom panel had expired.
It was also at that time that another option was added, that being
the "Sports Decor Group" at $1,375.00. The Sports Decor Group gave
the convertible the coupes front lower air dam with Hella Fog Lights,
the side Ground Effect Skorting as well as the reat under bumper air
valance panel with exhaust cut-outs. Also included were the coupe's
front & rear headlight & taillight lexon plastic covers, and the 140
MPH Speed, replacing the 85 MPH one.
I doubt you'll ever see a Sports Decor Group equipped car WITH the
custom door panels!!! Anything's Possible - but I doubt it. Also,
at that time they added Charcoal Interior Color & Black Convertible
Top Color, "Paris Blue Metallic" and "Atlantic Blue Metallic"
and "Sterling Silver Metallic" body paint colors, joining the Muscat
Red, ASC White & Jet Black. Any of these 3 paints together with
Recaros & the Sports Decor Group would make one VERY rare piece. I
do know of one in the Paris Blue, that was recently wrecked. (So
what else is new???)
