On the contrary Sandy... I never get offended. If anyone should be offended it should be the Capri owners who should be pouncing on these characters that are trying to sell Capri's as Mustangs on eBay. It is happening far too frequently on eBay and if the Capri owners do not stand up for the distinctiveness of their marque then the marque will be lost.
I think the nearest comparison I can bring to bear in this is the Cuda and the Challenger ( but possibly the Camaro and its brother the Firebird might also fit in with what I am saying ). On eBay or anywhere Cuda owners gather, they would burn on a cross anyone who ran around saying that their 'Challenger' was a Cuda. Similarly, anyone who ran around bragging they had a TransAm would be laughed back into the shadows if the car turned out to be a Camaro RS...
Each of the marques is particularly proud of their specific brand of vehicle. Many owners go to great lengths to explain to 'newbies' what makes their particular vehicle distinctive compared to the other vehicles. As such, the Capri owners need to strongly defend their marque when someone attempts to deceive the public and represent a Capri as a Mustang. Part of our collective knowledge exist to protect the 'newbies' from being mislead by sellers.
And one of the great values that Sandy has provided to this forum is to enrich everyone with the many distinctive traits and oddities of our cars that rendered the all slightly different then their brother/sister McLarens and a world removed from the stock Mustang or Capri from which they were born.
Deep down, my initial motivation for highlighting that particular vendor was to provide an example of something that I see being played out far too often on eBay. My belief is that once I draw everyones attention to that misrepresentation of Capri's as Mustangs, the true Capri owners will also become more vigilent at spotting vendors that are deliberately neglecting to mention the Capri heritage of a given vehicle.
Oh well... as I said, I took no offense at any remarks passed in this forum.
