yes your hole should be din. yes your radio is a two shaft style. your looking for 2 plates, one metal and one wood that matches the dash. the 2 are the same shape. the metal one goes on first. then you put the radio in from the rear of the dash. then the wood plate goes on and then the shaft nuts. when you tigten them the two plates will sandwich against the recessed area of the dash and hold the radio in. then you should put a back strap on for extra suppost and theft prevention. mine was released in march '85 and came with the alpine. if you remove your dash pad you can check and see if it has the factory installed amp in the center hole on the dash. if its an alpine, chances are you sent the wrong one back. im not sure if the kenwoods came with an amp... jdawg
