Yes, I knew that the tint was removeable film. A friend of mine does
it as a business & I have watched me do a car or two.
What I don't like about it, (and granted I am not in Arizona) is the
stigma of the stuff. Around here (New Jersey/New York) all of
the "druggies" have it on their BMWs & Mercedes and the like, and the
cops don't like it, because they know it's to "buy" a moment or two
to "ditch" something or other. THEREFORE, they tend to cut drivers
(male) no slack! A car goes thru an intersection at 32 MPH on the
yellow light. The car is a Pontiac Bonneville, clear glass, male
driver in his 40's ~ Cop leaves it alone. Moments later a Lexus LS
goes thru the same intersection at 30 MPH (it's a 25 MPH zone) and
the Lexus LS is actually going 2 MPH slower than the Bonneville was.
However, the windows are deep tinted and the driver is invisable.
Immediately cop gives chase!! Pulls over the Lexus. What happens
AFTER that depends on many factors. Driver is a 50-ish woman and is
polite, he lets her go. Driver is a 18 year old, fresh kid, a
minority and cop smells beer on his breath, he gets nailed.
By having the tint (here in NJ) and maybe other places, it draws the
attention of law enforcement to YOU and YOUR car. You STAND OUT in
the cops eye.
THAT is what I don't want!! I don't want the red flag the officer.
(and) YES, officers have been shot (and killed) by people who did
pull over. Many, many, many of them here. They actually pull over,
(the criminal) to abort the chase!!! Cops gets out of his Crown Vic
and walks over to drug-driver and driver fires THRU the closed dark
tinted window, into cops face!! (No bullit proof vest on the face)!
Trust me, I know - my wife's first cousin is a leutenant in a local
police force in a impoverished, drug infested town. No decent human
being could ever believe what goes on there. Case in point. All
2002 Nissan Maximas are having their headlamps stolen! 90% of them
have been hit. WHY? These animals have found out that the elements
within the lights can be removed, (HIDs) and made into "Street Stun
Guns" for torture purposes! It's a whole different world than
Arizona, over here.
