I would bet that he was referring to the pre-production cars and maybe some
very early production '84 models.
Even though Ford refers to the Quad-Shock suspended cars as '84-1/2 models,
they actually started putting the Quad-Shock rear suspension on cars
starting in December of '83, so there probably weren't very many of the 25
'84 Coupe's made without the Quad-Shock arrangement.

Sandy, do you know the production dates of the '84 cars?

He says that he at first started with a special spring designed by
himself but then went with the stock Ford springs when "horizontal
shock absorbers" were used. I assume that he is referring to the
quadra shocks that Ford employed in 1984. So which coupes came
with "special" springs? Early 84s?...or did they all get the
Motorsport ones? or maybe he didn't remember right?
