Re: 1987 #70 for Sale

Your right, it is a mystery color alright... I have never seen a
paint code with only 2 letters... Also, I dont know if it was
because of the the fade that my car may have, but hot yellow (HY) by
Sikkens did not match when I repainted the bumper due to a small
scratch that I had... you can imagine my anger now when the bumper
is off by a shade or two..... Its infuriating, let me tell ya. I
was told by a Mustang guru up here in CT that the Sikkens HY came
out of Sweden, or some other European Country, but when I tried to
contact ASC, they redirected me to the Mustang Club of America...
and they knew nothing... Thats why I have considered, many a time,
reshooting the entire car in Sikkens HY (which is a little darker
and deeper yellow), and then just shooting a UV clear to stop
fading. My car i think was the original HY, but it has faded so
gradually to more of a lemon yellow or canary i guess you could call
it. I never really noticed until I look at older pictures... then
again, when I wax it, it comes right back to the original color...
it has got to bed one of the strangest paints I have ever worked
with... Its the only complaint I have ever had with the car... I
just dont think I could bring myself to shoot it with a PPG like I
do with all of my other restos.... Ill have to post some older, and
recent picks for you to take a look at in the next couple of days. -
