The answer to #s one & rwo are both ** YES **
Regarding the trunk, you are saying that the pull cable in the rear
cove's "hidden compartment" is missing? If so, look in the glove box
to see it there's a button in there. Lastly, disconnect the battery
(one cable will do) and then re-connect. If a power trunk, it should
then Pop Open. Good luck.
