You are correct. Ford built them at Dearborn WITH the T-Top doors,
thusly that big thick plastic thing attached to the top of the
window, to take up the space, during transportation & storage at asc.
When they switched to door mounted exterior mirrors in mid-1988, then
they switched to using the "convertible doors" which Ford HAD on
line. That is the same way the cars were recieved at C&C to be made
into Mustang Convertibles. Both Convertible & T-Top doors were the
same item, and were made by Ford at the Foundry Stamping Plant.

On another topic, I found some more "stuff" AMONG MY STUFF THAT
SPEAKS ABOUT 1991 changes. The only change was the addition of 16"
tires/wheels, as the regular Mustang of 1991 received. Now, it does
not tell WHAT wheel they were going to use. A search turned up that
the only 16" wheel they used in 1991 was for the Mark VII - however,
that wheel used a different off-set, and would not fit properly ona
1991 Mustang. There was no other FoMoCo car wheel to use, so it
woulda been interesting to know exactly WHAT wheel asc was intending
to use!! (Sadly, we'll never know). Perhaps they had not yet
figured it our, when the plug was pulled. No doubt something with
the same off set, by an aftermarket mfgr. Emkei might have even made
the same 89/90 wheel (Model 82) in a 16" with the correct off-set for
asc. Anyone know more ???
