As the owner of a '96 Cobra let me just say that Sandy
is absolutely right. These were hot cars back in the
day, but not so much anymore. Stock for stock, my '85
ASC/McLaren Coupe wouldn't even be in the same race as
my Cobra, just as an '03 or '04 Cobra would easily
beat my '96.
On the other hand, I go to autocrosses and open track
events several times a summer and there are almost
always other Cobras there. Mine is one of 1,999 Mystic
Cobras ever made, and I've seen as many as 4 identical
cars at the same event! But my '85 is the only
ASC/McLaren Coupe I've ever actually laid eyes on.
Also as Sandy mentioned, for those of us who can't
leave well enough alone, they are great starting
points.
