I haven't the slightest idea whether this car has been immersed in
water as Sandy speculates, but a couple of things I noted when
looking at this car, comparing it to my car of course.

1. My car has some bubbles under the tonneau similar to this car and
I know that it has not be immersed in water. Perhaps there are are
screws or rivets under the tonneau cover that become evident once the
vinyl settles or perhaps there is some way that rust could occur
under the cover. I have never taken my cover off, so I don't know
for sure. I don't have rust on the underside of the tonneau itself
either.

2. The Recaro's look a hell of a lot better than mine, considering
that this car is a Nevada desert car and it has a fairly dark
interior. Mine was used as a "beach" car in New England and suffered
quite a bit of sun damage and its beige.

3. As far as I can tell, the signature plaque is exactly as it
should be on this car. It's a bit oxidized like mine was before it
fell off/was stolen. My car and the verts I have seen pics of did
not have the black backing w/ orange stripe around it. Note the
picture of the other Sean's 85 vert in the "Files" section. If you
zoom in on the plaque, you will notice it doesn't have the black
backing piece.

4. The kick panel is a mystery to me though. It looks like its a
moldy beige one like Sandy says. Who the hell knows what that kick
panel is doing in this car.

I could be wrong, but this car doesn't look like its been under water
to me. When seeing Sandy's comments, the first thing I looked at was
the wood dash kit. Seems to me that the dash kit in this car would
be warping/peeling off w/ the slightest hint of water. Mine was
wrecked by the sun only.

My unsolicited 2 cents. I would post some more pics of my car to
show you what I'm talking about, but the photos section is still down.
