Thanks Sandy, sorry about the confusion I probably caused most of it when I assumed that they were actual NACA ducts. I'm a little relieved but on the other hand a little disappointed too, my "vision" of the hood was having the original rectangle holes filled in and 2 of the NACA teardrop ducts put in that area or maybe a total of 3 of them with one in the center and 2 more farther back in the hood. Since it appears that the correct scoops go more or less in place of the original grills then it would be much easier to duplicate the look.
I can also understand why they discontinued doing them because of what Sandy pointed out, they would just have a puddle of water sitting in there when it rained.
