and you will tell the insurance company whatever they need to
hear...my doors were locked or unlocked. when my car was gotten
into the slit the roof(insurance did pay) had removed the 2 alpine
knobs, then bumped the horn button. it took me about 10 seconds to
think....who has a horn like that....ME, as i went running out(in my
boxers) i saw them cutting across yards, i gave chase, but never
caught up. it was kinda my fault for not puttin it away that
night. the neighbors were away on vacation and there drivway was
right by my bedroom window, so i pulled in there after a show and
got lazy. needless to say that didn't happen again. another time,
my garage was broken into, the car was top down with the keys in
it, lucky me they only took the stereo system. they climbed the
roof cut the alarm wires and the phone line, kicked the door open
and had them a shoppin spree c/o me. if i would have just took the
keys out they wouldn't have been able to get in the trunk. they got
my 2 amps and a crossover. but the woofers were in the convertible
cubby hole, under the top, and that they did not know how to
operate. so i got to keep them. the gauge cluster was busted along
with the radio hole and faceplate. lastly the left me a big scratch
down the side when they were through rapin her.
another story...my blazer was broken into in walmart parking lot,
at 10:30 am. when i got ther i sat in the car for over an hour
before i went in so someone was watchin me. i was inside for less
than 10 minutes. they poped the lock out, pryed the whole dash out
around the stereo(took it all), and flopped down the reart seat and
took the box, woofers and amps all in one kick. the box was screwed
to the floor. i would say they were drivin a van. everything was
taken out the driver side, so a sliding door on a van would have
been real easy. oh and i forgot, i was parked in the first spot,
pass. side towards the building. after i though for a while i
wondered if someone hadn't followed me in with a cell phone and
reported back to the thiefs my every movement...make you wonder how
easy you can be followed and gotten.

another tip i forgot... if you have a car alarm and the perps. are
only going for contents, a set of jumper cables(hooked up) touched
to the body of the car will short the entire system out, battery
back up and all.....no more alarm. any exposed lock like on the
mustang and capri, can be grabbed with needle nosed vicegrips and
twisted, presto unlocked. on any car with a ragtop or t-top or
frameless windows, the window can be pried out far enough to slide
your arm down in and unlock the door. i have suprised many a vette
owner with that trick. the old montes and regals are the worst, big
sloppy windows. any window with a rubber molding, truck back
windows, escort and mustang quarters, etc can be pulled out with no
tools, no noise, and no alarm sounding.....more tips later
