Hello Anthony !
Some Rumor! No where close to 300HP, they do produce 225 H.P.
They DID "hop-up" the rear end! In 5-Speed cars the standard rear
was 2.73 & they upped it to 3.08. In automatic cars standard was
3.23 & they hopped it up to 3.73.
Regarding exhaust. The cars were the LX model 2-Door Sedan
(Notchback - the one with the back trunk). The V-8 LX used a de-
tuned version of the GT's exhaust system. HOWEVER asc/McLaren Spec
(D32 cars) were built BY Ford at the Dearborn Assembly Line using the
GT exhaust system. (Note that the tips of the exhaust on GTs bend
downward at the rear most tips, and that V-8 LX(s) go straight out.)
If still equipped with OEM you'll see asc/McLaren's pipes turn
downward at the rear bumper.
